Hands and Feet

Here in Barrie, Ontario, a gentle family seeing the real needs of marginalized people, decided they could do their part to bring the love of God and the care of human touch by providing meals and practical assistance to those in need. Building relationships has allowed them to share the power of Jesus transforming love as the motivator behind their work. Meals through  BBQ events for folks in boarding houses and fresh bag lunches are the main focus of Nino and Salvina as well as pizza handouts. On occasion they will see the need for clothes and furniture, which is often secured though FaceBook followers and delivered at no cost to someone in need.

Hands and Feet is the name of the outreach ministry the Di Cristo Family has done on a regular basis for the last 12 years. Their five children have grown up around outreach to others and know what it is like to share in the blessing of being some of those hands and feet. A hug, a smile, a thank you is a powerful response by those who recognize sincere love motivated by Jesus command to care for your neighbour. “It’s hard work, and sometimes sacrifices have to be made, but we know that Jesus loves us, so we take that in practical ways and share it with others.” (Nino)

In the last few years Hands and Feet has grown with many more families from all over coming together out to serve and help those in the community called least. Today members of the group meet each Saturday from 4:30 pm-6:30 pm to hand out bagged lunches, clothing, shoes, drinks and the hope of Jesus Christ to those willing to hear and to be just an ear and listen to others share their lives. During the winter months we hand out gloves, hats, boots, blankets, sleeping bags, and tents to those in need living on the streets. We also drive around during the very cold nights handing out hot chocolate and coffees to those walking the streets with no home and no hope.

Every month we hand out over 300 bagged lunches, 200 pizza slices and drinks and whatever need is needed and with your help we can do much more.
