Ken and Sarah Beckley

In February 1994, during their first furloughs, Ken and Sarah met at a missions conference at a mutually supporting church. Ken proposed in July, they were married in August, and in September they left for their next term in Mali!

For the next 15 years, they served the town of Diré, about 80 miles beyond Timbuktu! There they were involved in Bible translation and church planting. Because of problems of security in the north of Mali, since 2011 they have worked in northern Bénin doing the same kind of ministries in Mali.

They are now serving in the small village of Guéné, in northern Bénin, overseeing the translation of the Bible into the Dendi language, as well as pastoring a small church in the town of Malanville while Sarah home schools their four sons.

Ken’s Story

Ken was raised in Mali – his parents served in Mali for 38 years.

Growing up in Mali, seeing his parents’ love for the people, gave him a desire to return to Mali and continue their work. The Lord confirmed that call in his senior year in high school.

Ken served his first term in the town of Timbuktu as a single missionary, helping in all the various ministries of the local church there.

Sarah’s Story

Through the influence of many missionaries who came to Sarah’s church and home, at a young age, she developed a burden for lost people. It was in her sophomore year in Bible college, knowing God was calling her to serve Him, she gave Him her life for missionary service.

Sarah served an internship in a church in Margate, FL. and also acquired a Masters degree in Teaching English as a Second Language. She then served one term in Nairobi, Kenya with a church planting team.
