Tracy Robinson – Camp Promise

Our passion is to raise a generation of leaders who Love Jesus and serve their community, with a clear identity of who they are and what their purpose is!

Our purpose is to reach children, youth and their families, in the northeast Barrie with the love of Jesus in practical and relational ways.

Camp Promise provides after school programs and special weekend planned activities designed to build relationships and expand life experiences for children ages 5-14.  We focus on foundational academic, spiritual and social skills needed for life.  This model is adapted with permission from Urban Promise Toronto.  All ministry staff, mission interns, and volunteers work together to produce a safe and loving environment for the children, youth and families we serve.

After School Program

  • Provides an opportunity for children and youth to meet in a safe and inviting place, with trustworthy leaders of all ages, who are trained to engage children and youth with love and respect. Within the two hour time period, the children will experience.
  • A healthy snack.
  • Assistance with homework, and practice reading skills.
  • Participation in games, sports, arts and crafts, music and special events.
  • Learning together from the Bible through interactive formats.
  • Wonderful opportunities to develop friendships with peers and healthy relationships with trusted leaders.

March Break Camp: Three full days during March Break each year, for those already attending  the after school program.

Summer Camp
: Full Month of July each year, full five days a week.

Saturday Fun Days: Outings for smaller groups of two or three children per Saturday throughout the school year.

On Sundays: Children, youth and families are invited to come with mission interns to Sunday morning at Bethel Community Church.

Family Outreach Support: As relationships develop with families, we provide ongoing as needed support to the mostly single parent moms

Tracy Robinson and Team

Following the sudden passing of Tracy’s husband, Scott, she was aproached by Urban Promise in East Toronto to come on staff.  After almost four years of service, Tracy brought the Urban Promise model to Barrie with a vision to make a difference in children’s lives. Through intentional after school programs and dedicated seasonal camps, these interventions would significantly improve the life trajectory of children and families at risk.  Tracy has built a team who together partner with the local congregation facility at Bethel Community Church for outreach.

The Camp Promise team is comprised of Tracy Robinson, Director, mission interns, short-term volunteers, support volunteers, and donors.

The team is trained to present quality programs while accepting and embracing each child and their families with the love of Jesus.

Training- Up Young Leaders

Camp Promise looks to the future and is committed to training up young leaders to care about others with a missional life-style focus, leading by example with their own lives. We provide opportunity for high school and college co-op placements and for interested high school students to learn by volunteering. These students receive key training to work with poverty culture and children with significant behavioural challenges, as well as spiritual discipleship.

Camp Promise also partners with Liebenzell Mission in Bad Liebenzell, Germany.  Each year, at the end of August, they send students who volunteer as missionaries in training for 11 months. These young students have completed the equivalency of high school in their own country and may have been working.  This is a cross-cultural, gap year experience for them. They become the core planning and leading team alongside of the Camp Director who trains, mentors, and leads them.

They also volunteer one full day a week in one of the elementary schools that Camp Promise children are attending, which has developed a strong report for Camp Promise with the school administrators and teachers. They have been recruited this year for their musical talents, which they use to serve on the church worship team, and support the Youth Pastor with the high school youth ministry in the local church we partner with, Bethel Community Church.

Tracy and the entire Camp Promise team are very excited to fulfill the objectives and are grateful for your support of this valued service to the community.
