Sion Assembly Church Ministries

Established in1993 Sion Assembly Church Ministries (SAC) in Vijayawada, India, endeavours to make a difference in the lives of boys and girls, men and women who find themselves in need of food, water, shelter, clothing, medical aid, education, and spiritual awakening through the Good News of Christ.

Reaching the 1.3 billion people in India is a daunting task, but SAC has created numerous opportunities to serve the community and share the Gospel including medical clinics, Bible seminars, a prison ministry, and much more. With seven thriving churches and plans to plant more, training is provided for men to serve as pastors. A daily television broadcast gives them an even wider reach.

Rajendra’s Story

19-year-old engineering student Rajendra Yellamelli came to faith in Christ at age 15 through his mother who became a believer by a housekeeper working for her. He watched as she shared with their Hindu neighbors what Jesus did for her and many came to a relationship with Christ. She told her boys they could not have their meals unless they memorized scripture. During this time she became terminal with cancer and was not expected to live more than a week. The boys and their father, a new believer, prayed continuously all night and she was miraculously healed to live 22 more years. This powerful testimony of God’s love motivated this family forward in ministry. Not yet 20, Rajendra changed his secular studies and intensified preaching the gospel to the people in slums of Vijayawada. The brothers parents sold their home and gave up a comfortable lifestyle to provide funds to help establish the first mission centre in Vijayawada.

Today Rajendra, his brother Ravi, their wives Suneetha and Prathibha and family have successfully built facilities for worship, training, and an orphanage to take the Good News to thousands in seven established regional churches and now to the millions via television in the native Telagu dialect.

Rajendra’s vision is great, the work enormous, and the outcome life changing for so many finding new life in Christ and new purpose in living.

Orphanage

SAC operates an orphanage in Vellaturu, which is attached to the church building. While the physical needs of each child are met, the ultimate goal is to reach them with the love and care of God. Currently, 32 children reside in the orphanage, with space for up to 200, and new children are still coming. Many widows also receive food through the orphan ministry, and some even stay the night, sleeping on the church floor. The orphanage houses a sewing center where the women are taught to sew so that they can begin to support themselves. Classes and the use of sewing machines are free of charge.

Your monthly support of $50 enables us to take care of these precious children, send them to school, give them clean drinking water, beautiful bunk beds to sleep, and good bathroom facilities with showers. Actually in India most of the people and families do not have bathroom facilities. These children come from the most poor of cast background. The children are well treated and we have a playground for the children to play and the children grow in a spiritual family environment. Please continue to pray and support for these wonderful and precious children in the SAC orphanage home.

Thank you once again for your continues support, if you are not a supporter for these precious children, you can provide significant help by sponsoring a child. Sponsorship provides a child’s uniform, food, shelter, and other supplied required to attend school. Our goal is to reach them with the love and care of God.

Education

Education provided by schools in the slums of Vijayawada is not adequate. Many parents want their children to learn English as it provides many more employment opportunities, both at home and abroad. To fill this need, SAC plans to establish a Christian school at the orphanage, with classes beginning in 2017. Their desire is to build a Christian, English-speaking school with Telugu, their native language, taught as a second language.
